This was shot by a friend who came over after hurricane Irene. I was sitting on a cooler, stirring a pot over a propane stove. We had no running water or electricity for 5 days but we were all safe. My friend was impressed by how well we dealt with the aftermath. I felt like a pioneer woman— except armed with a blackberry and no means of pumping water. We had prepared fairly well— although we quickly ran out of water & had to use the flooded basement water for flushing the toilet!!
At least we ate well and had the means to heat/reheat food. And we fed another family of 7 that night. So though most of our modern conveniences were taken away, we still managed. There were many others who lost their homes along the coast and in VT, so for us luckily it was just a bit of nuisance.
And very glad to have normalcy restored. Once I get kids back to school (it was delayed a week) and my husband home, it’ll all be right as rain.
ps. My husband is in hospital, so I am hoping all is well. Send positive thoughts our way. thx!
