- Place clam in palm, hinge in
- curved part facing up
- Insert clam/oyster knife in between lip
- Push knife in gently with other hand
- Push towards hinge on top then pull
- knife out a bit, separating top meat
- from shell as you pry apart
- pull shells apart more
- then separate bottom meat from shell
How to shuck clams.
It takes a bit of practice. Be gentle with the knife when separating the clam from the shell so it doesn’t break. Put a bowl beneath to catch juices for clam sauce.
Tabasco or lemon juice and cracked pepper are perfect on a raw clam.
