Food banks now feed 1 in 7 Americans
I have so much on my plate right now— launching new business to help families figure out ways to get their kids to eat well, dealing with my investment advisory clients in this turbulent market, being mom to 3 boys in the summer with no vacation to get away to due to austerity measures, sigining on to become President of our local Cooking Club and VP of Special Events. (What was I thinking). As well as being active (ok—a muffin top for first time in years has made me realize I need to watch what I eat/drink and how much/little I exercise)!
BUT with the horrors around the globe— starvation in Ethiopia and Somolia, unrest in the Middle East, wars in too many places make me realize really how lucky I am.
This is here in the US. Too high a percentage. Read Warren Buffett’s OpEd in NYTimes and hopefully we will all contribute to help those in need.
A record 45.8 million people received food stamps from the government in May. That’s one out of every seven people.
